Laura Chodacki Baker

Executive Director

In September of 2017, Laura was named Executive Director of RiverBend Cancer Services. Previously the Executive Director at Reading for Life, a mentoring program for juvenile offenders, and Director of Development for St. Vincent du Paul Society, Laura has been a part of the community for 15 years. She has a Master's in Non-Profit Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Bachelor's from Colorado College. She is the mother of five children, has two dogs, and volunteers actively in the PHM schools and with Friends of Granger Paths.

Hanna Demchak

Client Advocate

After completing her senior internship at RiverBend in 2018-2019, Hannah came aboard as a staff member in April of 2021. Hannah graduated from IU South Bend in December 2019 with her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Working as our client advocate, Hannah enjoys the opportunity to work with cancer survivors by providing financial assistance and finding resources that promote overall physical and mental wellness. In her free time, Hannah likes to hike or do outdoorsy activities, spend time with her pets and cook.

Susan Sandock, LCSW

Counselor

Susan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana with a Master's in Counseling from Butler University. Soon after finishing her Master's in Social Work she was employed at Madison Center and worked with sexual assault and sexual abuse survivors. Susan also has 10 years of experience with Hospice in the field of bereavement group work in Elkhart County. Susan began at RiverBend in May of 2014 and sees individuals living with cancer and their families for on-on-one counseling. IN addition, she facilitates support groups for men, women, families and caregivers. Susan is a wife, mother of two adult sons and has 7 grandchildren.

Katina Scarbrough
Program Director

Katina joined RiverBend in December 2018, and has a bachelor's degree in Business with a concentration in Non-Profit Management from Bethel College. She is a South Bend native and a mother to two sons. When not at RiverBend, Katina enjoys reading, gardening, cooking and especially practicing the new knitting and crocheting skills she learned from the very kind ladies in the Wednesday morning kitting group.
