RiverBend Cancer Services Client Advocate

Job Description:

The Client Advocate position is an integral part of the RiverBend team. Hours can be flexible as long as they are consistent. The Client Advocate is often a client’s first contact point with RiverBend. We are looking to add a colleague that is compassionate and professional, has high energy and is detail-oriented. Client Advocates works directly with clients to assist with the financial assistance program and other resources.


Client Advocate reports to the Executive Director.


Job Duties:  Services to Clients


  • Conducts intakes with new clients and determines eligibility for services

  • Coordinates transportation for clients to/from medical appointments

  • Manage prescription vouchers for clients

  • Schedule counseling appointments

  • Maintain accurate records in databases


Job Duties:  Community Outreach


  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of referral agencies and resources throughout the community for people with cancer and their families.

  • Occasional visits to area hospitals and treatment centers to meet with cancer survivors, and educate clients about our services, as needed.



Job Duties: Administration


  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with clients and their families

  • Team player, participating in short and long-term program and policy planning through development of personal and program goals, consistent with RiverBend vision and mission.

  • Act as the face of RiverBend to all constituents; from the excellent delivery of care to clients to the grateful acknowledgment of donors.

  • Accomplish other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Knowledge and Skills


  • Positive, passionate, flexible, good listener with a willingness and excitement to engage people throughout the community and bring them closer to the RiverBend mission.

  • Able to manage multiple projects at a time. 

  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with colleagues and other referring professionals, both medical and other social service providers.

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products.
